Course Aim

The course strengthens frontline professionals’ understanding of the systemic barriers disabled people face in employment. It provides the language, frameworks, and real-world examples needed to help employers adopt a barrier-removal approach.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand and articulate the social model of disability
• Use inclusive language to engage employers effectively
• Recognise different types of disability and associated barriers
• Identify and support adjustments across the entire employee lifecycle, with a focus on attraction and recruitment
• Address the myths and stigma that continues to drive employers’ fears around inclusive recruitment
• Deepen understanding of reasonable workplace adjustments and the role of in-work support in fostering inclusion
