The National Occupational Standards describe the skills and knowledge needed by the supported employment sector.

The Supported Employment National Occupational Standards (NOS) describe the skills and knowledge needed by the supported employment sector and are based on the internationally agreed 5-stage model of Supported Employment. See the European Supported Employment Toolkit for more information.
Individuals and organisations who enable people with disabilities and/or disadvantages to find, access and stay in employment through specialist employment support use a variety of job titles to describe these job support roles.
BASE uses the descriptor of job coach to describe this role but others may refer to this role as an employment support specialist, employability coach, inclusive employment support officer, employment adviser or employment consultant.

BASE role
BASE is a national membership charity that promotes the principles and delivery of high quality Supported Employment services.
Our aim is that every disabled, neurodivergent or disadvantaged person across the UK should have access to the right support to access good quality careers through a highly trained workforce.
We champion the interests of supported employment providers, job seekers and employers so that inclusive recruitment becomes the norm and 'Employment is For All' can be become a reality. Working in partnership with policy makers, central and local government, researchers as well as people with lived experience, we share expertise, evidence and knowledge about what works.
